3. Implement Wellness Activities

bikingThis step involves marketing and launching the chosen activities.  Initially, using this NAPA approach, the health department coordinator, along with the on-site wellness coordinator, facilitates the activities.  But, once the program is operating, the on-site wellness coordinator and committee manage the program entirely.

Marketing the program can start with a program name and logo, which can be selected by the wellness committee and/or by the employees.  The marketing can advance with newsletters, handouts, posters and emails about the new program and its benefits.  Then, marketing can continue with incentives, rewards, competitions and promotions.

Before initializing and promoting new activities, access any successful activities already in place.  Or make adjustments to these activities according to the employees’ needs.

NAPA has a strategy menu with 37 evidence-based activities categorized into three sections, each divided into nutrition and physical activities.  The three categories are:
policy and procedure; access and environment; and education and motivation.
