Screen Smart and Screen Free

Screen Free Week

Every third full week of April and September, millions of people across the country participate in Screen Free Week. Screen Free Week is a celebration where children, families and communities turn off their screens and tune into life. Instead of relying on screens to provide entertainment and life experiences participants create their own adventures, use their imaginations, daydream, explore nature or read a book!

The beauty of Screen Free Week is that anyone can participate. The idea is to refrain from using your screens for entertainment for seven days. This means no video and computer games, television, DVDs, videos, Internet surfing, hand-held devices, etc. We know this will be challenging but guarantee the experience will not only enlighten you but also provide another perspective on doing more together as a family, playing with friends outside, creating your own adventures or even exploring another world through a book. Remember, small steps make a difference too.

This year, MT NAPA and Partners for Healthy Kids worked in conjunction with the Bozeman Daily Chronicle to produce a newspaper insert for April featuring Screen Free Week activities and resources.
